Soap

Can't help noticing just how much of the TV schedule is taken up by soap operas, and quite a few appear to be set up north- Corrie in Salford, Emmerdale in West Yorkshire and the weird one about teenage angst and sex in Chester. So apart from the token ones set in the capital, what other regional variations on this are there? Does Pobol-y-cwm still exist - now that's my idea of a regional soap- only relevant to those who can speak the language. And then there was Tak' the High Road set in the highlands and watched for some reason by my mother.

So here's what we want - more regional soap operas which are based on some kind of appropriate scripting. We could have "Mangel Wurzel" a soap set in the wilderness of Norfolk and with the locals being concerned about in-breeding and the state of the mustard harvest, and then there could be one set in the Midlands where everybody appears to be living in a time warp and is stuck in the late 70's...
