Hold on a minute you lovers. How many of you are aware of the roots of choccy and naughty knicks day? Not many I'll be bound. Well you'll be surprised and amazed to learn that the Roman forerunner involved S&M in the streets with undies..and I quote Plutarch here so it must be true
"the magistrates run up and down through the city naked, for sport and laughter striking those they meet with shaggy thongs"... sounds more like inspiration for Cynthia Payne.
Now this is a custom I would dearly like to see resurrected instead of the giving and receiving of tasteless mass produced cards (for the record none given or received...as usual) It'd be worth getting up to the local magistrates' court to witness this frivolity.
