Oh What It Is To Be British

So schools are now to teach "core British values" are they? The trouble with this of course is that no-one really knows what these are and if you leave it to the woolly-minded uberliberals that seem to haunt academia these days (the sort of people who apologise for our history and "embrace diversity" to the detriment of all concerned but especially those who are in the ethnic majority and have elevated political correctness to an artform) they'll all think that T O N Y B L I A R I S G O D
The trouble with this identifying our "core values" of course is that we would be much better off asking our neighbours what they think are our strengths/weaknesses. The French, of course, don't like us very much and it might just be beyond them to be unbiased, and the Germans are far to busy to bother with this sort of nonsense, although Frau Schmidt of Wolfenbüttel might have a few minutes spare to fill in a postal questionnaire after a hard day making Jägermeister. Of course if you think about it we've had all kinds of arguments with the neighbours over the years and most of them are a little more serious than them forgetting to bring back the secateurs or failing to control their children, so perhaps this is not the best way of finding out what we're all about.
Why not give up on this whole silly idea and that of teaching "citizenship" and teach the kids basic things like right from wrong instead?
