After the extensive coverage of the plot to blow up the underground using some unbelievable concoction of hair bleach and chapati flour, I'm sure there are many kitchens and bathrooms that have been stripped of a range of ingredients that have been mixed together just to see what will happen and I bet some of you have tried it by now haven't you? Now let me tell you straight this is a very silly thing to do indeed - not least because you might inadvertently stumble across some lethal mixture of - let's say for the sake of argument - indigestion pills and horseradish that burns a hole through the worktop and that stash of carrier bags in the cupboard underneath.
Of course I'm trying to point out yet another example of the lack of control that the media exercise from time to time. After all, just stating what the ingredients of a home-made explosive are is going to get people to have a go at making it and ultimately someone is going to succeed and do some serious damage to themselves or, as is often the case in these situations, someone else - just remember the business in America where some boy scout tried to get his nuclear physics badge and nearly made a tactical nuke in his basement.
