Didn't we have a lovely time, the day we went to Northampton. Well actually no, it's been a miserable wet day stuck in pointless traffic jams on Britain's motorways where they are carrying out so-called improvements - although getting the large number of containers being transported by lorry onto the railways and canals would make a much bigger improvement.
So what can I tell you about Northampton - they've got some traffic lights, a large BMW dealer, some council offices, a rather second-rate looking hospital and the are famous for being the hometown of Bauhaus and makers of kinky boots - they also apparently have the third worst rate of gun crime. If only I'd known I'd have taken a flak jacket.
Anyway the whole purpose of the trip was to go to St Andrew's (specialist secure mental health services £7,500 per week -and you wonder why the NHS is in trouble) to meet a social worker who was clearly in the middle of her mid-life crisis - and if I ever get called "My Love" again by anyone in any circumstances ever I will probably kill - and who clearly had an over-inflated opinion of her abilities, unlike the service user we went to assess who was in no doubt about her abilities...add to this the boss's usual trip round a car park in order to get lunch and you have the makings of another day in paradise...well, don't you?
