Television Manifesto

Strange thing television, everybody has an opinion about what they like and what they don't, but how many are actually prepared to suggest what programmes should be made instead of just whining on about how bad everything is.
So here's my view like it or not, Grand Designs is a wonderful programme, Kevin McCloud an exceptional presenter, Another Dose of River Cottage or whatever the latest thing with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is equally entertaining and then there's splendid American stuff like the West Wing, all the various CSI spin-offs, Law and Order and so on, stuff that for some reason we are not able to match- I'd love to see a quality UK political drama which presumably can go under the working title No 10.
Then of course there are the soaps - pathetic and unrealistic - remember Rosie the Goth in Coronation Chicken - whoops sorry thinking sandwiches - Street "I hate you all, I'm going to listen to Cradle of Filth in my room" I think the dialogue could be considerably improved in this case by changing it to "I hate my ears - I'm going to listen to CoF" and instead of the manky theme tune replace it with some suitable Northern Goth anthem- Libitina's "Dirt I cannot wash" for example.
Equally they should do something about the music in the background in the pub in Eastenders - for example the burial of Dirty Den would have been much improved by hearing Rammstein's "Mein Teil"
