As you can imagine I'm still rather cross about the fire on Saturday night last. So I decided to actually do something about it, so I have emailed the housing association and got absolutely nowhere - although their website has a very pretty design and talks very tough on antisocial behaviour, not that they actually are very good at the associated walk.
So having made no progress with the first port of call I contacted the management company that provide (ahem) "Estate services", they dutifully informed me that they were not able to do anything as I wasn't the director of a RSL (Registered Social Landlord = Housing association) and that the doors to the bin refuge had been removed to - believe this if you can - deter vandalism, well it's worked as the noticeably absent doors haven't been covered with graffiti, and they sympathised with the fact that if it hadn't been for the fire brigade we could all be crispy critters by now.
So now that it's clear that no-one wants to take responsibility for doing something I've turned to the forces of law and order and got a very sympathetic hearing from the Police who said that they were equally dismayed by the housing association and their reluctance to do anything to protect the people who pay their wages.
