A Taxing Matter

It's that time of year again where I have to scrimp and save in order to pay an extortionate sum of money for a small paper disk to put on the car windscreen. Whilst I accept that this is essential in order to raise some much-needed revenue to repair the infrastructure of our roads it would actually be quite nice to see it being spent wisely.
It's been reported quite often that there are far too many road signs which cause confusion (especially in my view in Mansfield where I always end up in the wrong lane of the extremely complicated one-way system and end up having to take a detour around the back of the brewery to get the road to Newark) so why not actually spend a bit of money on doing something about that, or how about making sure that the speed humps in the road (Epping Forest District Council take note) do not resemble some kind of anti-tank obstruction.
So Mister Broon wake up and pay attention, make it clear to us all what exactly the road fund licence money is being used for - show me the improvements to our infrastructure that all us drivers have clubbed together to subsidise.
