Wilberforce

Please don't get me wrong here - outside of the BDSM lifestyle there is no place for slavery, but why should there be these continued demands from some activists for reparations. After all it was two hundred years ago and the people who in my view had the right to compensation and being allowed to make the choices that had been taken away from them are long dead. And then there is the consideration of where we should stop - the Romans and Vikings took captives to use as slaves, should they be made to make reparations to their descendants - assuming of course that they could be accurately identified - otherwise parties of boozed-up rugby fans will be in for a bit of a windfall if they are in the right place at the right time all wearing plastic Viking helmets.
Instead why not do something positive for a change by setting up an institution to protect everybody's human rights and give them real powers to do some good instead of half-hearted legislation made toothless by the House of Lords, being chronically underfunded by government and stripped of credibility by appointing media-friendly puppets to chair the organisation. After all we cannot change the past but we are in a position to make a brighter future.
