Why did they invent this?

Sometimes you are left asking the question "Why?", this is particularly relevant to novel alcoholic beverages, whilst trying to find out something about a particular brand of absinthe I discovered a range of drinks which I cannot understand at all - a tea based liqueur, cannabis vodka and ready mixed rum-based cocktails (the coconut variety even contains real fruit!) I mean who are they meant to appeal to?
