According to my copy of Old Squeaky's Almanac and Booke of Ye Days it's St George's Day and a reason for non-celebration. This is entirely because of the hijacking of "Englishness" by certain elements in our society. Quite why they have adopted the Saint is no-one actually knows as Good Ol' George (according to the Almanac which claims accuracy in all things) was a Turkish Kebab seller who decide to have a go at making the world's first dragon shish and therefore must be taboo to our not very bright nationalists.
Anyway I'm off to celebrate the feast of St Ival with Mister Squeaky who says that the Saint's strawberry yoghurt is a religious experience in itself...
