Isn't is strange how hot footing it after allegations of corruption on the part of some labour ministers there is then an outcry about the misappropriation of parliamentary allowances by a tory MP. And I'm fairly sure there will be other misdemeanours by our elected representatives reported over the remainder of the life of this parliament.
Forgive me for labouring for so long under the misapprehension that these public figures were supposed to be beyond reproach, after all they are the ones who we turn to to make sure that there are all kinds of laws and regulations which are (supposedly) there to safeguard us from criminals, yet they seem to delight in flouting the rules that govern them. Sadly their behaviour can most often be summed up as a case of "do what I say not what I do" and then they wonder why so many people feel alienated from government...
