A Policeman's Lot...

What a surprise, the media are at it again. Man questioned by police = guilty in the eyes of the press. I refer of course to the on-going search for the missing child in Portugal. I've said before and I'll say again that I feel that the close scrutiny of the media does not help any kind of police investigation either at home or abroad, indeed if it's abroad it's often worse because there is intense speculation on what would be done if only Corner of the Yard or Sherlock Holmes was in charge.
The irony of this being that it was only yesterday (as it were) that the British Police were in all kinds of disgrace according to the demon editors of Fleet Street because there were too many arrests for the wrong kinds of crimes and not enough for the right ones.
Not of course that I have any faith in the British Justice system any more - just another one of the Bliar's legacies which we are going to be left to endure - all very good giving the perpetrators of crime more rights, how about the rights of their victims eh? And where's the justice when you can get millions of pounds for being called a two-faced weasel in public and fuck all if a robber beats you with a baseball bat leaving you in need of permanent care because of the brain injury he caused you?
