Practice makes Perfect

There are some things which just make me break out in a violent rage (and send Mister Squeaky hiding behind the curtains until its safe to come out). This time it's the extremely unreasonable demand for money with menaces from the Nursing and Midwifery Council. In one go they have increased the registration fee threefold by making it an annual fee which you have to pay or else you can't work as a qualified nurse. What is also particularly vexing about this is that in their last glossy PR friendly magazine they attempted to justify this by saying that they needed to refurbish their offices in Portland Place to face the challenges of the future...I can only assume that this means strengthening the doors to prevent a mob of angry nurses battering them down with drip stands and giving the chief executive an enema with extreme prejudice.

All they do is tell off nurses who have misbehaved and make them stand in the naughty corner so why do they need a prestigious address - they could operate out of an old cow shed in Leicestershire for all I care - and the healthy country air mind blow some sense into their heads at the same time. Don't you just love it when you get yet another stealth tax.

I totally agree with your blog. The consultation document is absolute rubbish it is not a consultation but a 'fait a compli'. Not once does it ask the question do you agree to this massive unneccessary increase to your subscription fee. Its sly and underhanded and I am absolutely outraged not just by the consultation document but also by the suggested increase in fees.
