Passive imitation of aggression anyone? Apparently our government have decided that viewing violent sexual images makes you commit crimes therefore if you look at these images you are going to be criminalised and sent to gaol for three years. Anyone spot the flaw in this arguement? Precisely - if viewing the images causes deviant offending behaviour (rape, torture etc) then surely the police officers investigating the crime will become violent sexual criminals because they have been exposed to the material too.
Okay so it's distasteful and unpleasant stuff - but why criminalise people in the UK who choose to look at it because its available using the excuse that because the material originates abroad they have no jurisdiction over it. Well hold your horses - how about looking at the ISPs instead and prosecuting them for failing to prevent this supposed flood of highly offensive material instead of as always looking at the end user?
But then that's what happens here isn't it - one mad bloke grabs gun and goes on rampage so ban all handguns (and shooting was one of the few things we used to get medals for at the olympics). Drug misuse wrecks lives and is a massive drain on mental health services so decriminalise them and get more problem drug users.
Welcome to Bliar's Britain - tough on things that might get the popular vote and keep us clinging onto power...
