Toxic Shock

I am now the proud owner of a bottle of something called Black Balzam - the traditional Latvian cure for, well everything really, and from experiment with this liquid the most obvious thing it cures is sobriety. According to the Wiki this stuff was given to Catherine the Great when she became ill in Latvia and she miraculously recovered - I don't know why but there's a nagging thought in the back of my head that cause and effect may well have been transposed here...
Anyway, as is customary with liquor these days the bottle comes with the obligatory booklet "101 bizarre drinks combinations to make you really ill" (absinthe and southern comfort for example), fortunately I am not remotely tempted by this having noticed a marked similarity between this potent elixir and Jägermeister which is best served chilled, therefore I'm going to put it in the fridge to accompany Herr Doktor von Squeakenstein's uncertainty experiments with nerve gas and fluffy kittens....
