Have a cold, therefore miserable and not feeling like doing anything much. Upshot is too much thinking time. Bad news for world therefore. Now we all are aware of tribute bands aren't we - Pay attention if you're the member of one - I will not add you on MySpace unless you pay me really significant sums of money and as an aside read my profile DO I SOUND LIKE THE KIND OF GUY WHO WOULD LIKE A GUNS N' FUCKING ROSES TRIBUTE FUCKING BAND - I DON'T THINK SO (that's enough shouting - orders of Herr Doktor Squeakenstein!)
Anyway I don't particularly enjoy things like the Rollmop Stones or Trextacy or whatever, but they always seem to make large amounts of dosh and bring in large crowds. Why? Do people really prefer what they know? Do they not want to be challenged by new artists and new genres? Do they really want to pretend that its forever 1974? I think that these are probably the people who will always complain that the new album is not as good as the first...and that "Smoke on the Stairway" will only ever sound right if it's played on the same day that it was recorded whilst wearing Jimmy Page replica underpants.
Me, I can't wait to get my copy of the new TdV CD Pleasure and Pain - it's got some really poor write-ups on the web (about not being as good as Nightbreed of Macabria so something tells that I'm really going to enjoy it.
