Tough on Evil...Tough on the Causes of Evil

Another series of incidents in London today. Fortunately there were no major casualties. Less fortunately the media were whipped into a frenzy of speculation and reporting that as usual left a lot to be desired.
Picture the scene - bus in Columbia Road in shot. Reporter interviewing man who was in pub nearby - who didn't hear or see anything of the incident - but was able to give a clear and accurate account of talking to someone who might have been on the bus - or at least had once been on a bus journey. Cut to reporter in Kennington reporting the exciting fact that there was a police car turning in the road. Whoopee!
What next? Reporter sights pizza delivery bike, cut to studio where "experts" debate the variety of toppings on the pizza and whether there was an extra portion of garlic bread and what would happen if the bottle of drink in the meal deal wasn't diet coke?
Now whilst terrorists are extremely unpleasant individuals, who are at the very least psychopathic, and who seek to change government policy by violence I don't consider them evil, just criminal and in no way deserving of any kind of political status when caught and sent for trial and subsequent punishment.
What I do find evil is the media reporting of these outrageous acts. The speculation and mind-numbing sensory overload that they induce is right up there with other soul destroying activities such as golf, songs of praise, Linda Barker and any program with David Dickinson in it. The fear and stress that they cause does the terrorists work for them
So go to it, Stamp Out Evil by refusing to participate in the media circus, don't answer their pointless questions, ask them to justify their activities, ask them whether what they are doing is in the public interest. Ask them who appointed them as the guardians of public morality - as they are clearly unable of following a moral code of their own.
