Robbery by Numbers

We are being left in do doubt that it is not a bad thing to start recycling and making things last for longer, almost every time you look at a newspaper there is something that we should be doing in order to save our environment. So if we're all supposed to be doing something why aren't the manufacturers of computer equipment?
Take a case in point - in order to get a set of new ink cartridges for my photo printer I have to pay more than a new printer would cost, the same goes for toner for the laser printer. And then of course the manufacturers insist that if you don't use their own cartridges then you're on your own if it goes horribly wrong - and don't even think about refills as they chip them so you can't do that. Me I need to save money so a new printer with a set of cartridges is the best value option. But you're welcome to send your empty cartridges off to be recycled for charity...someone somewhere clearly has their priorities wrong....
