Health and Safety Nazis

Watch out they're everywhere. Firstly I 'd just like to say that there is nothing wrong with the concept of health and safety at work - it's nice to know that there are legal requirements for your employer to make sure that you're not squashed by heavy machinery or that you could fall into a vat of something very toxic and really not good for your long-term well being. The problem starts with the idiots that are employed to police the legislation, very often they have no practical experience of the industry that they are inspecting and have been on a course to learn all about it - all very commendable I'm sure but the classroom is no substitute for the shop floor. They also have this nasty habit of insisting on all kinds of protective measures which rather that reducing the hazard introduce a whole new set of problems - you try climbing a ladder whilst wearing acid resistant gloves made of a material that makes rhinoceros hide seem like the finest gloving leather, or try to clean an oven using full PPE because you might get a whiff of a professional cleaning product.
Enough already. Stop these fools from being able to tell you how you should do the job and make them do it themselves wearing all their recommended equipment and procedures and see how long i is before they realise that they are talking out of their narrow minded beaurocratic arses.
