The Book Inspector

I've just finished wading through an Ian Rankin novel, a very strange experience as I'm not sure how much I actually enjoyed the experience. I had no sympathy for the main character, found the plot difficult to follow but the book was strangely compelling for some reason I just can't understand. At least it was better than a lot of other crime novels, a lot of which are better described as criminal - Agatha Christie being the main offender.
