Hard of Thinking

Yuletide Greetings to all my fellow Pagans and sod all to anyone else! Anyway back to the mundane for a minute or two.

There are some things which are just plain wrong, in this case it's a brochure received at work today for a specialist hotel for the disabled in a well-known North West seaside resort which has a tower and a ballroom amongst its minimal pleasures. The only thing in its favour is that at least it's not in that south coast hell hole that they used to ship all the asylum inmates to for their annual holiday. From a brief scan it seems to add a whole new layer of terror and uncertainty to having a learning disability - at least this is my opinion based on the expressions on the faces of the two people with Down's being forced (presumably at gunpoint) to take part in the all-inclusive entertainment package - and let's say they are either not enjoying the experience or they have chronic constipation.
Now hotels which meet the requirements of the disability discrimination act are a good thing, don't get me wrong, but its the assumption that people need to be entertained by fifth-rate cabaret or a 70's disco run by a used car salesman (that's what he looks like in the photo) that I have the problem with. And don't even go there with the wheelchair accessible line dancing or meeting the stars of Emmerdale Street or whatever.
