Now I never thought I'd say this but I'm quite pleased that Nick Griffin and company were acquitted, not you understand because I agree with them, in fact I really am not all tolerant of any kind of extremist views (apart from my own of course, aren't we all convinced that our opinions are the only ones that matter), but rather because of the seedy and underhand way in which the evidence against them was gathered by undercover journalists. Now I accept that there is sometimes a need for things to be brought to the attention of the public - but in my view this was tantamount to trial by television and really not in the spirit of the BBC's charter i.e. to educate, inform and entertain.
Puts me in mind of the Roger Cook school of journalism - "So you admit that you're a mindless thug easily provoked into casual violence when you are accused of wrong-doing by a man with a camera crew. Now please would you stop hitting me with that croquet mallet Archbishop!"
