Of Mice and Shopping
Where's the Pied Piper when you need one? The problem is mice - well one mouse anyway - spotted at 10 pm yesterday scurrying across the kitchen floor and cowering behind the freezer after (at my guess) having gained entry up the gas pipe. This clearly will not do - so I duly trot off to Goodmayes Tesco (thank goodness for 24 hour shopping) only to discover that 1. they do not sell traps and 2. they're run out of poison and 3. the assistants are even more stupid at 10 pm than usual. So then head off to the desolate wastelands by the Chequers at Dagenham only to discover that the merry souls who inhabit Asda at 11:00 pm are too busy slapping each others arses (to jingle their change honest!) to even think about stocking things for removing life from rodents. Eventually go to the seriously big Tesco at Beckton to get some suitable rodenticide - really lovely stuff too - kills 'em by thinning their blood to the point they haemorrage to death. Back home and job complete by midnight. And I wanted a quiet night in too...
