Incoming!

Well, you can't say you haven't been warned. Ruskin last night. Headless Cross and Carnal Rites. So reviews in brief.
Headless Cross - young, energetic, good stage presence. Driving metal with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer influences. Sometimes the influences were a little near the surface as there were one or two very familiar sounding riffs. Overall very impressive, confident and competent. Would I pay money to see them? Not as headliners just yet - give them a year or so, but as part of an overall package I would be happy to see them in the support slot for a "name" band. 8/10

Carnal Rites - Hard edged classic metal. Sadly last gig with their current vocalist, so something of a special show. The opener for their set was a blinder and the rest of the set didn't disappoint either. But I'm afraid to say that from a photographer's point of view they were boring visually. Where was the golden moment? Personally I think it was down to crowd apathy and a bigger crowd would have given the band the extra encouragement they needed to give an outstanding performance. 7/10

Now listen people - and this is important, the Ruskin is one of the few Rock venues in East London, there is no charge for entry (except for cover bands, and you know my views on them), the bands are usually exceptionally good and they try to put on a good show so where are you? Bands and venues rely on the punters, if you don't give them your support you will lose them. And if you can't be asked then you're part of the problem.
