We are not amused

No I've not suddenly become the earthly vessel for the ghost of Queen Victoria, if that's what you were thinking. I've just been to a Tesco Metro. I've just been offended by one of their staff attempting to be funny at my expense. Just wait until tomorrow. I'm going to go back when the manager's there and make complaints at their unfunny employee's expense. Then I might be amused again.
Anyway this leads to a deeper issue, ("Doesn't it always?" I hear the murmur from the back - I know it's you - stay behind after class) the decline of standards in society. Is it me or am I turning into my Dad? People today don't seem to have the respect for others that they had when I was growing up, everybody wants everything now and tough if you get in their way. This is the legacy of the Thatcher generation. And I think the price is too high to pay.
