Had conversation with Mrs Pogle the other day during which she reveals that she has thought of becoming a goth as she once wanted to dye her hair black. She doesn't know anything about the goth music scene can I help? Pogle then sets some boundaries. Musn't be too extreme, mustn't have rude or offensive lyrics and can't have any bleepy electronic stuff - oh and it should be "tasteful"
So plenty of choice left then.
"Ok" says I "Let's have a go", some classic stuff perhaps you know Bauhaus, the Sisters, a bit of the Mish, All About Eve, a bit of deathrock - SBA, Devilish Presley. Have by now excluded the Scary Bitches (not tasteful), Killing Miranda (rude and offensive lyrics as defined by Pogle - shame as "I know what you want" would have gone down a storm ... listen and decide yourselves), anything industrial, ebm or darkwave electronica (too bleepy).
Anyway with the aid of Mister Squeaky (my faithful Giant Rubber Goth Bat), marker pen in mouth, hanging upside down from the computer monitor a list is compiled and compliation duly produced. And you know what, she actually liked most of it, with the exception of an attempt to sneak some darkwave under the wire (I told you we'd never get away with it Squeaky Old Chap.)
As a second volume has been asked for with slightly more challenging selection of music (still with ban on bleepy stuff) presume now is a good time to invest in hair dye shares.
