I'm sure you've all noticed how music shapes your mood, how hearing a piece of music can bring back really vivid memories and equally how one piece of music can describe a period in your life much better than you could ever express it in words. So I've been thinking about the soundtrack to the last half of the year - not a period I can really look back on with any sense of joy.
So without any need for novelties (who was the DJ who used to have a tape recording of a dog? Take them out and shoot them at once, put them out of our misery) I can reveal the top ten in no particular order from the decks of doom...
