Into the Kitten's Den...

Duly having considered my journey to be essential I made my way into central London this morning. The only difference I noticed was that due to the checks on the tube the carriages were cleaner than usual and there were no spare copies of Metro to be had. Anyway made my way to the agency to be inducted only to find out that they had decamped to Ilford - where I had started my journey but they had neglected to evacuate the diary with them. Still I had a relatively pleasant morning making my way from Euston to Holborn via Great Ormond Street and Red Lion Square.
The only thing that I found annoying was the huge numbers of press waiting outside UCH and in the streets adjoining Woburn Place, indeed the whole of the television coverage of the London bombings has annnoyed me. Why is it neccessary to have non-stop coverage scrutinising everything in minute detail? Why subject obviously traumatised people to an interview when all they want to do is contact their loved ones to tell them they're safe? What is the point of speculating about what the terrorists might have had for breakfast and whether they were wearing clean underwear whilst planting their devices?
In such circumstances the media should confine themselves to giving brief, accurate and regular updates of the situation - not to give huge amounts of airtime to the petty details and confused recollections of victims - and certainly not give the terrorists any publicity.
