Record of the Year

This is the time of the year when things like Top of the Pops decide to go retrospective and tell you what (in their worthless opinion) the best record of the year was - bear in mind that this is usually based on the sales of CDs to the (musically) preliterate and will almost always contain at least one truly dreadful novelty record, something recorded by a reality TV star and absolutely no reference to anything considered to be either in poor taste or too alternative for the mainstream.

Well that's quite enough of that boys and girls - these are the records which should have been in your top ten for the year and if they weren't you will have to attend a court of enquiry and account for your obvious lack of taste, as always in these matters I'll announce the results in reverse order:
