I got the Film Scanner Blues

The worst part about photography has to be scanning negatives into a computer. Taking pictures is fine, a time for eager anticipation and the hope that I've caught the thing I wanted to. Then comes the alchemy - not too keen on loading the film into the spirals - a lot of fumbling around blindly in the dark in the hope that you've got the right thing - a bit like sex really ;-) but it's all worth it when you get the end result. A strip of perfectly developed negatives which look correctly exposed.
Then scanning the damned things into the computer - takes forever, the scanner makes a really irritating sound and there's always some minor irritation with the software.
After that image manipulation and cropping are easy - just like a darkroom but with instant results. I think I'm going to have to go digital at some point.
Just one question though - are those who have only ever used digital cameras and not used film better photographers? I don't think so.
